This progression document is bespoke to Springhead school to fit the needs of our pupils and the resources that we use. It is based on the school’s previous calculation policy and draws on the non-statutory DFE ‘Mathematics Guidance: key stages 1 and 2’ (June 2020), using a CPA (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract) approach.
This is used to ensure that there is cohesion and progression in the teaching of calculation in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions.
