Games that you can play at home

There are some great games that you can play with your child at home to help to develop his/her mathematical understanding.

Below are some great board games that involve using a dice which will help your child to recognise number patterns, also known as subitising. By looking at the patterns of the dots on the dice your child will already be developing an understanding of what number looks like and not just the numeral that represents it. These games also involve counting on and in some cases counting back. Questions like ‘how many more do you need?’ and ‘what number did you get?’ are a great way to develop mathematical understanding.

At Springhead Primary School the children in the Foundation Stage take it in turns to bring home a selection of board games. These games are sent home for you to play with your child over a period of 7 days. We hope that you have fun playing these games at home 👍🏼
