Enrichment

At Springhead School, the children have been challenged to run a marathon. KS1 children are running in their classes and our KS2 children are running individually. They have been given a booklet to record their laps in. We have been lucky enough to have been given some medals by LKR Events, who organise the Hull marathon, so when the children complete the challenge they will be presented with a medal in an assembly. We have just had our first four finishers. Well done Fran, Isabella, Ethan and Thomas.

KS1 Sports Day 2022 was held in the afternoon of the 14th June. The children were amazing, taking part in all the races while their families proudly watched.

KS2 Sports Day 2022 was a huge success. It was lovely to have the parents back cheering all the children on. The weather was also very kind to us which meant that the children could enjoy an ice lolly during the break. The children compete for points for their team. Congratulations to the blue team that won the trophy and a huge well done to the red team for coming second and the green team for coming a close third.

As part of the Queen's Jubilee celebrations, we took part in a dance workshop called 'Dance through the Decades' Each class chose a decade between the 1950's to the current day. We dressed up and learnt a dance from that decade then showcased our efforts to our families at the end of the day.

On Thursday 28th April, we celebrated the Daily Mile's 10th birthday. Each class did their bit and received a certificate for taking part. Here are a few photographs of our efforts.

Year five have taken part in an Outdoor Adventure Workshop where they had to build a den that would keep them warm and dry and find a list of items in a scavenger hunt.

Here are a few photographs from our whole school skipping day. As a result of a fantastic day had by all and the children caught saying 'I wish we could do this for longer' we have bought two sets of skipping ropes for all the children to use at break times and lunchtimes. We even have ropes for the staff to use and some Double Dutch ropes for when we are experts..

For the past two weeks, year four have taken part in a Healthy Lifestyle Workshop. They learnt how physical activity can make us healthier, how much sugar there is in certain foods and drinks and how much water we should drink in a day. They had to work as a team to decide on their answers which helped them with their communication skills. They also played some games which raised their heartrate as well as playing games where they had to focus and perfect their aim when trying to hit a target.

In the Summer Term, we held our very first Race for Life. The children were asked to dress as a superhero and ask friends and family for sponsors. They were able to set their own target of how many laps of the field they wanted to run. All children took part and most of them smashed their target. In total we raised an unbelievable £5000.

We plan to organise a Race for Life every two years from now on and raise money for this fantastic charity.

Here are a few pictures of our amazing superheroes.

Our Reception and KS1 classes signed up for a tennis roadshow in November. The children were taught how to control a ball, how to hold a racket correctly and how to hit a ball. Even though it was a cold day, the children enjoyed themselves. The MUGA came in very useful.

Adam Year One

I liked it when we bounced the ball and then we caught it. The coach was helpful.

Tilly Year One

I loved it because I enjoyed throwing the ball and holding the tennis racket.
