Year 6 have been learning about how animals adapt to suit the environment. We looked at the different ways and reasons for some animals using camouflage. Having learnt the peppered moth, we then designed a moth that would be camouflaged in the orchard.
In Science, Year 6 have been learning about inheritance and evolution. We investigated how holly trees adapt to the environment by making observations of leaves from different parts of the tree. We then made suggestions as to why they were different.
Year 6 are using their art skills that they learnt about drawing, showing perspective and now are painting a cityscape.
We have been looking at different artists work for ideas.
They have also been learning about how the use of colour can provide depth in their work and about warm and cold colours and complementary colours.
Year 6 are learning about evolution and inheritance. Today they each picked an animal and researched how it adapted to its environment.
For our D&T, Year 6 designed and made their Healthy pot noodles.
They worked in groups to make them for a specific target audience. We all agreed that they were delicious!
Having studied it in English, Year 6 had a fantastic trip to Hull Truck Theatre to see A Christmas Carol.
Some of Year 6 took part in the Primary Maths Challenge for the first time this year. This is a national competition held by the Mathematical Association set to challenge pupils across the country.
